Call for D-Day engineers

A call for D-Day engineers to come forward and be honoured was made by the mayor of Arromanche in Normandy on Sunday. The mayor wants to build a statue of a surviving engineer to celebrate the crucial part that the Mulberry Harbours played in the invasion effort (NCE supplement 16 June 1994).

The call was made as the veterans of the 1944 invasion of Europe paraded on the French coast in front of assembled heads of state and the Queen. Surviving Mulberry Harbour engineers should get in touch with NCE.
