Head of the London Chamber of Commerce Peter Bishop this week called for a third runway to be built at Heathrow. In a letter to the government Bishop cited a survey by the Chamber showing that 80% of 315 London businesses polled were in favour of building a third runway. Heathrow needs to develop extra landing and take off capacity if it is to avoid losing out to regional and European competitors, Bishop said. Bishop also called for a decision on Heathrow Terminal 5 before parliament rises at the end of this week.
