Cabo and Fugro join forces for Panama Canal project

Canada-based Cabo Drilling and Fugro Panama have created a new joint venture to supply geotechnical drilling services for the Cristobel Port Site at the Caribbean entrance to the Panama Canal.

Under the agreement, Cabo will supply equipment and crew to undertake marine geotechnical sampling work, while Fugro will supply a jack-up barge for the work as well as logging and processing samples and geotechnical testing. Fugro will also work on geophysical studies for the scheme.

The investigation is expected to involve drilling of 22 boreholes to 45m below seabed level to recover samples that will be tested to provide information for the main port construction work.
