Tarmac announces JB Riney takeover

Building services firm Tarmac has taken over civil engineering contractor JB Riney, boosting its contracting offerings in London.

The acquisition of highways specialist JB Riney, based in Stratford, east London, aims to increase Tarmac’s civils and highways offerings in the south. JB Riney brings expertise in highways maintenance, civil engineering and utilities infrastructure.

JB Riney, which is nearly 40 years old, has previously described itself as “one of the few remaining fully independent civil engineering companies in London”. It counts Transport for London and several London councils among its clients.

It will continue to operate under its existing name and will join Tarmac’s highways services division under its contracting business.
