Mott MacDonald has acquired energy consultant Wideurope Engineering.

Wideurope has 50 staff and was established in 2002. It operates from offices in Dubai and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and Genoa, Italy.

Wideurope has workd on power and desalination plants in the Gulf Cooperation Council and south west Asia, combined cycle power plants in Italy and North Africa and a range of projects in South America and South East Asia.

“Adding a base in Genoa will give us access to high quality engineering skills in Italy, while the strong client relationships Wideurope has built will offer new scope to work closely in the global energy sector,” said Mott MacDonald chairman Keith Howells. ”We’re excited about exploring wider international opportunities together.”

Wideurope Engineering general manager Giorgio Fugazzi added: “Joining Mott MacDonald also provides great opportunities for our staff, who’ll be able to collaborate and share their experiences with new colleagues, while developing skills in new sectors and working on a more diverse range of projects.”
