Total job losses at Carillion have now exceeded 900 after the Official Receiver announced a further 101 redundancies following the contractor’s liquidation.
The new lay offs take the total number of redundancies at Carillion to 930.
The additional 101 redundancies cover a mix of back-office functions and engineering support roles that the new suppliers no longer require, the Insolvency Service said today. Another 452 redundancies were announced on Monday.
So far, 1,221 jobs are connected to public and private contracts have been safeguarded, including services for a city council and a range of facilities management services. The total number of jobs saved currently stands at 2,250.
A spokesperson for the Official Receiver said: “The liquidation process continues and we remain focused on engaging with staff and new suppliers about any changes to jobs and contracts.”
Workers that have lost their jobs are eligible to apply for statutory redundancy payments.
