Camden Town station win for Arcadis

camden tube

Arcadis has won work as the civil and tunnelling design consultant for Transport for London (TfL)’s £136M capacity upgrade at Camden Town tube station.

The station has to be enlarged to meet increased passenger demand. Work will include construction of a second entrance and exit with a new entrance hall and access tunnels. Extra space will allow for future capacity expansion of the Northern Line.

Arcadis will provide design and construction support until the project finishes in 2024. It will work with sub-consultants OTB Engineering, CJ Associates and Mace.

“These upgrade works are essential if the Tube network is to support London’s growing population, and Camden Town is one of the busiest stations on the network, long prone to overcrowding and access problems, particularly at weekends and weekday peak times,” said Arcadis project director Tim Hockney.

“It is vital that we continue to invest in creating world-class facilities right across our public transport network, thereby enabling people to move around the city with ease.”

Arcadis’ contract win for the upgrade, which starts in 2019, follows two other wins with TfL including the Barking Riverside Extension and Old Oak Common.
