Burning Channel Tunnel lorrytrains must head for fire exit

With the fire only 7km from the tunnel entrance it seems to me that the least damage and risk to lives would have been for the train to get out of the tunnel as quickly as possible, in this case in around seven minutes.

It would then be sent to a siding where all the fire fighting equipment could be ready. This seems better than 16 hours burning in the tunnel. Have I missed something?
