Burj Dubai "to open 2 December"

The world’s talles building - the Burj Dubai - will open to business on 2 December as an army of workers struggle to complete the structure on time.

Speaking on news channel CNN, chairman of developer Emaar, which build the Burj said:

“We are aiming for December 2, the UAE National Day,” to open the building.

The building is more than 800m tall, and has a staff of 12,000 workers fighting to meet this deadline.

Alabbar said Dubai would issue the second tranche of its $20bn (£12.55bn) bond within the next two months. The first tranche was bought by the UAE’s central bank, based in Abu Dhabi.

“I don’t know the exact date, but October or November is a reasonable date. I expect the majority will be subscribed by government and some by the private sector,” said Alabbar.
