Buoyant gates designed to protect Venice to start early in 2007


Construction of foundations for a series of buoyant gates designed to protect Venice from high tides is due to start early in 2007 following the release of £440M of funding by the Italian government. Client Consorzio Venezia Nuova said a contractor for the massive dredging and piling works is to be appointed within the next two months.
