Bumper order book gives Costain bright outlook

Recorder orders of £3.7bn have put Costain on track to deliver financial results in line with expectations.

Contract wins including the development of the M4 corridor around Newport for the Welsh Government and the underground link between the Crossrail and Bakerloo Line platforms at Paddington station have seen orders increase in the first six months of this year from £3.5bn to £3.7bn.

Announcing its interim results, it said other big wins for the company include two sections of the A14 improvement scheme for Highways England. The company says more than 90% of its orders are from repeat clients.

The company says its tendering activity remains ‘high’ and it is in a strong preferred bidder position of over £500 million.
