Brogan out after ICE shake-up

INSTITUTION OF Civil Engineers communications director Keith Brogan has been made redundant following a merger of regional and communications operations at Great George Street.

ICE regional operations director Julien Parrott beat Brogan to the job of heading up the united department.

'We decided to strengthen our communications and regional operations by merger.

We had two directors and weighing up the work that needs to be done, we had to make Keith redundant, ' said ICE acting chief executive Amar Bhogal.

It is hoped that merging communications and regional operations will help the ICE give more support to members on the ground.

ICE vice-president Colin Clinton, who will become the ICE's youngest president in 2004, will oversee the work of the united department, and is working with Parrott to develop an appropriate structure.

The internal shake-up follows the resignation of chief executive Mike Casebourne in October (NCE 1 November).

Brogan joined the ICE a year ago, following the departure of Alan Smith.
