Bristol fashion

I read with interest the article by Jackie Whitelaw regarding the BAA 'old boy' network (News 15 June), but would like to correct one point.

Although Bristol Airport has considered framework agreements in the past, no such agreements have been signed with either consultants or contractors. Construction contracts are normally tendered, but in exceptional circumstances may be negotiated where cost benets can be adequately demonstrated.
