Bridge lift closes gap on Welsh link road

A joint venture of Hochtief and Welsh contractor Alun Griffiths successfully closed the gap on the 200m long Bargoed Newydd Viaduct last week.
The 60m long central span of the Capita Symonds designed road overbridge was lifted into position during a 32 hour possession of the Cardiff to Rhymney Railway line by steelwork sub-contractor Fairfield Mabey. The structure forms part of an elevated roadway that will curve across the valley and is the main scheme in the Ł28M Greater Bargoed Community Regeneration Project.
