Breaking the glass mould

Waste glass from bottlebanks has already been recycled successfully in bituminous materials, but glass and concrete have not mixed well in the past. Glass, after all, is basically silica, and some forms of natural siliceous aggregates can react adversely to the inherently alkaline environment of a Portland cement matrix.
