Boxing Clever

The news that ATM is to be rolled out across the Birmingham Box is good news after the resounding success of the M42 trial section (News last week).

There is, however, a cheaper alternative for the M6 (the northern section of the "Box") .

If the M6 Toll were made free of charge and the tolls were transferred to the main M6 then much of the traffic would transfer to the new road.

As it would not be possible to install toll booths on the restricted M6, a system similar to that used in central London would be required for the collection of charges.
