Boost for civils firms

Civils workloads rose in the first three months of this year, according to research.

A balance of 39% of firms said they were busier in Q1 2014 than in the same period a year earlier, according to the Construction Trade Survey from materials firm the Construction Products Association.

A balance of 40% reported an increase in orders over the same period.

But nine in 10 firms warned that costs had risen for contractors in the sector over the past year.
