Books beats papers to BGA prize

THE BRITISH Geotechnical Association has for the first time awarded its annual prize to a book.

Marcus Matthews and Noel Simons from the University of Surrey, and Bruce Menzies of GDS Instruments, won the annual award for their book, A short course in geotechnical site investigation. Matthews (left) and Simons (centre) are pictured with BGA chairman Tony Bracegirdle.

Previously the prize had only been awarded to technical papers, Menzies said.

The prize was awarded at the BGA meeting on 3 December last year, the same night as the Fleming Award (GE January 04).
