Bond Street Crossrail contract award pushed back to 2013

The £200M construction contract for Crossrail’s Bond Street station has been postponed until the beginning of next year, a new report reveals.

Crossrail said in December that the remaining central London station main works contracts — at Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road and Liverpool Street — would be awarded in 2012. However, in a report prepared by Crossrail for the London Assembly Transport Committee dated 3 February 2012 the award of Bond Street is now scheduled for the first quarter of 2013.

Crossrail’s latest Current Works Opportunities document states that the C412 Bond Street Station Main Works contract is at invitation to tender stage, but the new report states that the invitation to tender will not be issued until the third quarter of this year. Crossrail also said in December that the two tunnel boring machines working eastwards from the Royal Oak portal in west London, which will be launched in March and April, are due to arrive at Bond Street in winter 2012.

According to the new report, the £300M Liverpool Street contract is expected to be awarded in the second quarter of this year with the £200M Tottenham Court Road contract following on in the third quarter.

Crossrail confirmed that C412 would go out to tender late this year.
