Bobcat passes muster for rugby league club’s stadium expansion

A Bobcat E50 5T zero tail swing compact excavator rented from the MTS Group has been helping semi-professional rugby league team Featherstone Rovers with expansion works at its Big Fellas Stadium near Pontefract in West Yorkshire.

The work is part of the club’s ambitious plans for promotion from the Kingstone Press Championship to the Super League, the top tier of rugby league in the UK.

Work began as soon as the season ended in November, with MTS being called in to provide the Bobcat E50 excavator and other equipment to help with earthmoving work to extend the pitch.

The ground has undergone a number of recent improvements, including the purchase of the former main stand at Scarborough Football Club, which was reconstructed at the Railway End of the Rovers ground earlier this year.

The Bobcat E50 is being used for groundworks, which include moving the playing area half a pitch length towards this end of the stadium.
