Boart Longyear sells UK drilling services business

Boart Longyear has confirmed that it has sold its UK drilling services business to the Mulraney Group and the division has been renamed as Geosonic Drilling.

According to Mulraney, the new company will continue to use Boart Longyear’s sonic drilling rigs but the sale creates the largest independent sonic drilling services provider in Europe.

“The Mulraney Group is based locally to our Alloa office in Scotland and our work is a good fit with the group’s existing interests in engineering,” said Geosonic Drilling general manager David Dennis.

Dennis said that the change of ownership would not impact on how the company operates and he is now focusing on growing the sonic drilling market in the UK and hopes to add more rigs to the company’s fleet in the near future.
