Birse Civils has been awarded the ECI (early contractor involvement) contract by the Highways Agency for a £6.6m project to extend the Prince of Wales Railway Bridge close to Junction 6 of the M4 at Windsor.

The Prince of Wales Bridge project involves extending the existing deck, replacing the parapets and constructing a new hard shoulder to improve safety at this location.

Precast concrete units will be used to extend the deck of the bridge.

The project forms part of Birse Civils’ South East Structures Framework for the Highways Agency.
