Birse Civils scoops £10.5M in Highways Agency contracts

Birse Civils, a division of Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering, has been awarded £10.5M of new work on the M1, M62 and A64 by the Highways Agency.

The contracts will involve replacement of streetlighting, maintenance and improvements.

The M62 junction 24 to 25 lighting renewal and replacement project will involve the replacement of around 320 street lights and installation of 10,000m of new safety fencing, while on the A64 it will be carrying out two projects in the North Yorkshire area.

The first involves carriageway resurfacing and the second scheme is the Brambling Fields junction improvement, which will improve the access and egress onto the A64 dual carriageway near Malton and will include the construction of a new off slip road and roundabout.

The M1 work will be routine technology upgrade.
