Birmingham University plans £175M upgrades

The University of Birmingham has announced a five year £175M investment in work to “transform” its famous Edgbaston campus.

The key developments include a new sports centre and a new library, to join the new Music building currently nearing completion.

The plans for the sports centre include a 50m swimming pool − the only one in Birmingham. The project will also deliver an “open access cultural hub” within a new library development. Extended student accommodation and staff car parking on campus will also be delivered.

The University has appointed architect Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands and credit rating agency S&P to oversee the development of the project.
