Comment on: Aecom acquires URS for £2.3bn
Maunsell and SWK now under one roof. Who would have thought it only a few years ago??
Comment on: Why don't more British contractors work abroad?
In Asia it is increasingly the case that foreign contractors are only winning work when bringing project finance with them as an inducement. In these difficult times for the UK banking industry it is unlikely that UK contractors are going to receive much support from friendly bankers any time soon......
Comment on: Thames Tunnel to target Asian contractors
With umpteen tunnelling projects ongoing or about to commence in Singapore and Malaysia I suspect that most Singapore-based contractors will be too flat out on their home turf to be tempted by offerings in the UK market, particularly with the high risk of market entry working in Europe would entail.
Agreed. On a recent trip to HK I could not believe how expensive everything had become there. Prices of everything from taxis to hotels have now reached ridiculous levels and will surely drive more businesses to relocate elsewhere in Asia where costs are more manageable.
Sounds very interesting and something which could open up opportunities for many other types of tidal and wind turbines. Any chance of some photos?
