Bid battle

With the war dogs growling over Iraq, getting competitive bids for construction of Al Khiran Pearl City was all but impossible. A large, international firm was needed for a job of this size, but they were either being signed up to work for the US Army or worried that Kuwait would get caught up in the cross fire, leaving personnel and plant stranded. To get the project under way, Saudi firm Al Oasis was finally taken on as a managing contractor, while client La'ala' All Kuwait Real Estate Company bought its own fleet of plant. It has hired operatives from Thailand, India and the Philippines.
