Full production has resumed at Corus' Scunthorpe steelworks this week after specialist contractor Mabey Support Systems installed temporary works to support a conveyor belt and pipelines that bring raw materials into the works. Production was halted in September after a fire broke out on the conveyor belt, which is used to transport limestone. There were fears that the fire could ignite oxygen carried in the pipelines.
