Belgian Building Research Institute research campaign on ground anchors. Noël Huybrechts reports

Ground anchors are commonly used in Belgium in different building and civil engineering applications, such as anchorage of retaining walls, submerged structures, quay walls and stabilisation of slopes.

Unfortunately, up to now no Belgian geotechnical standards exist that deal with such elements. As a consequence, the project specifications of different owners integrate generally, without coherence, with different design-and-test methodologies coming from other countries, mainly France and Germany.
