Bechtel lands Kosovan motorway role

Bechtel is to play a major role in construction of a 60km motorway in Kosovo.

The contractor, in partnership with Turkish firm Enka, will deliver Route 6 for the Balkan state’s government.

It will link the Kosovan capital of Pristina to neighbouring country Macedonia.

The same construction partnership completed Kosovo’s first motorway, Route 7, last year.

“This motorway will create a second major transport artery through Kosovo, connecting us to Macedonia and helping Kosovo become a crossroads for traffic from ports in Greece and Albania,” said infrastructure minister Fehmi Mujota.

“Improving our transport links is crucial to developing new and expanded businesses and will spur long-term economic growth in Kosovo.”
