Customer-driven design updates were the main focus of Bauer’s engineers when it came to updating its popular BG 28 rotary drilling rig. The rig features a new main winch, a re-engineered rotary drive and an improved counterweight design, as well as a new Stage IIIBcompliant engine.
The rear upper carriage-mounted main winch has an increased line pull of 274kN. The redesigned system offers more space on the upper carriage for other equipment but also has a wider drum to allow for two layer operation for greater drilling depths.
Other improvements include an increase in torque on the rotary drive to 295kN. There are also horizontally stacked counterweights to offer a constant tail radius and an improved cab design.
