Baroness Ford takes over as May Gurney chairman

Baroness Ford has taken over as chairman of contractor May Gurney following the retirement of David Sterry.

Sterry confimed the move at the firm’s AGM this week.

“As announced at our results in June and as part of our planned evolution of the board, Margaret Ford, the Baroness Ford of Cunninghame, was appointed as a non-executive director on 20 May 2011 and is today becoming non-executive chairman,” he said on Wednesday. “Margaret has significant experience of the support services and public services sectors and we are delighted to welcome her today.

Sterry said he was leaving the firm in good health. “On the basis of our performance during the first three months, visibility of earnings and strong cash generation, we are confident of our prospects for the current financial year,” he said
