Barnstaple western bypass set for go-ahead

The £42.1M Barnstaple western bypass was set for the go-ahead this week. Devon County Council was expected to approve the 3.7km long scheme at a council meeting on Tuesday evening. The bypass will involve a 409m bridge over the River Taw, a 100m long viaduct and two pedestrian underpasses. Delays caused by a series of legal challenges eventually halted by a House of Lords judgement have put back the likely start date until autumn.
