Bam Nuttall/Siemens awarded Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission framework

A joint venture including contractor Bam Nuttall has been awarded one of Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission’s three £200M delivery lots.

The venture, which also includes electrical engineering firm Siemens, will be part of a framework responsible for the design, manufacture, construction and commissioning of five substations in Moray and the West of Scotland.

The framework is part of SHE Transmission’s efforts to reinforce its systems to accommodate more onshore and offshore wind and marine generation developments. It lasts for five years with the facility to extend for another four years.

“SHE Transmission was looking for a single entity to deliver all aspects of their new assets with no gaps,” said Bam Nuttall operations director Ian Dalgleish.

“The teams from Siemens and Bam matched this brief, combining the capabilities of a global specialist in the manufacture and installation of transmission equipment with one of the UK’s leading infrastructure partners, which will be delivered through a local team embedded in Scotland.”
