Bam Nuttall wins £8.9M viaduct strengthening job on M8

Transport Scotland has awarded Bam Nuttall a £8.9M contract to strengthen and refurbish the M8 White Cart Viaduct in Paisley.

Bam Nuttall will carry out strengthening and refurbishment works to the 822m long, 23-span elevated motorway viaduct, comprising twin steel box girders with composite concrete deck slab.

Works will include but not be limited to the following: strenthening of the suspended-span half-joints, retro-fitting of additional steel plates, stiffeners, steel work repairs, concrete works on the deck, installation of sections of new expansion joints and associated reinstatement of waterproofing, surfacing, carriageway marking and installation of a permanent lighting system within the full length of the box girders.
