Balfour wins £28M Dundee station revamp

Balfour Beatty has won the £28M contract to redevelop Dundee rail station.

The contractor will build a new station on the site of the existing concourse.

Balfour’s bid included a pledge to provide 10 work placements, seven industry entrants, six apprenticeships and interviews for all local job applicants. The project is set to provide 120 construction jobs over two years.

Balfour Beatty managing director for the East of Scotland Hector MacAulay said: “This is a key project in the exciting programme to regenerate the waterfront in Dundee and follows on from our recently completed New Olympia Pool and Leisure Centre in East Marketgait.

“We will work with the council to generate significant community involvement through the construction phase with local employment and apprenticeships to deliver sustainable benefit to the city in the long term.”

The contract was awarded by Dundee City Council.
