Balfour wins £1.5bn Scape deal

Balfour Beatty has secured an infrastructure deal worth up to £1.5bn over the next four years.

The contractor was announced as infrastructure delivery contractor by public sector construction portal Scape.

Balfour will carry out civils and infrastructure works for public sector bodies across the UK through the single-operator framework.

Jobs are expected to be worth up to £40M each and involve anything from road repairs and light rail schemes to coastal defence works and bridge construction.

Balfour Beatty chief executive Leo Quinn said: “Balfour Beatty has significant depth of expertise across the UK in delivering civil engineering projects successfully and through this appointment we will be able to improve delivery for our customers and expand our portfolio of local infrastructure schemes.

“I am also delighted that we share Scape’s commitment to employ and develop trainees and apprentices in acquiring the skills necessary to build lifelong careers, and to support the local businesses that the infrastructure sector relies on.”
