Balfour Beatty wins Durham highway contract

Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering has been awarded a £4.1M contract for highway infrastructure works on the DurhamGate Project.

The works being carried out on behalf of Durham County Council will facilitate easier access to DurhamGate, a new development designed to revitalise industrial brownfield land near Spennymoor.

Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering has a strong track record of delivering similar projects in County Durham as lead contractor in the Council’s Strategic Alliance which ran for seven years until 2010.

The company will be responsible for construction of a new fifth leg off the A167/A688 Thinford roundabout junction, creating access to the development. As well as improving the existing roundabouts and road network in the area and all associated on-site highways signage, drainage and public realm works.
