Balfour Beatty wins £6M highways maintenance contract

Highways Agency has awarded its £6M North West Regional Technology Maintenance Contract (RTMC) to contractor Balfour Beatty this week.

The five year contract involves managing and maintaining road-side traffic systems, including variable message signs, CCTV cameras, traffic data loops, emergency road-side telephones, as well as control equipment at the Regional Control Centre.

The North West RTMC covers the Highways Agency’s Area 13 (Cumbria and North Lancashire), and Area 10 (Cheshire, Manchester and Liverpool).

Balfour Beatty will begin the contract in November. The contract runs until 2017 with the option of a further three years based on performance.
