Balfour Beatty to develop £150M Docklands tower

The Madison, London Docklands

Balfour Beatty is to provide pre-construction services for a 53-storey tower in London’s Docklands. The £150M development is set to be one of the tallest buildings under construction in the UK.

Called The Madison, property developers LBS Properties are behind the tower which will include 423 apartments as well as commercial space. It’s next to Canary Wharf.

Balfour Beatty will work on areas such as procurement and the delivery strategy in anticipation of the full construction contract award expected this summer.

Balfour Beatty’s UK Construction Services business managing director Dean Banks said: “The Madison will be one of the tallest structures under construction in the UK, standing at an impressive 187 metres.

“I am delighted the specialist skills and expertise Balfour Beatty offers in this growing market have been recognised by LBS Properties. We look forward to securing the full award in the summer and to delivering this iconic structure.”

Balfour Beatty says it will begin enabling works this February before the full contract is awarded. Construction is due to be finished in late 2019.
