Balfour Beatty road worker dies after M3 incident

A Balfour Beatty road worker has died following an incident on the M3.

Surrey Police said the man, thought to be in his late 20s, suffered serious injuries shortly after 10am on Monday 27 July.

A Balfour Beatty spokesperson said: “A road worker working on our M3 project died as a result of an incident within the roadworks.

“Our deepest sympathies are with our colleagues, family, friends and co-workers at this time.

“We are liaising with Surrey Police and the Health & Safety Executive to help their investigations and while these continue it would not be appropriate to comment further.”

A Highways England spokesperson said: “Every death on our roads is a tragedy and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of our colleague at Balfour Beatty who died on Monday while working on the M3.

“We will work closely with Surrey Police and the Health & Safety Executive on their investigations into this tragic incident.”
