Balfour Beatty hires former Atkins director

Balfour Beatty has named former Atkins finance director Stephen Billingham as non-executive director.

Billingham, who worked for Atkins from 2000 to 2004, will step down as executive chairman of pub chain Punch Taverns later this month.

He will remain chairman of utility Anglian Water, and non-executive director of nuclear power firm Urenco.

Billingham worked for 11 years at Balfour Beatty’s predecessor BICC prior to his role at Atkins.

Balfour Beatty chairman Philip Aiken said: “I am delighted that Stephen has agreed to join the Balfour Beatty board.

“He brings immense experience of different industries, including construction and support services, both from the supplier and the client side, as well as having a strong background in finance in several complex organisations.”

Billingham is the fifth director to join Balfour in 2015.
