Bachy buys up Simplex Foundations

Bachy Soletanche today announced that it has bought piling contractor Simplex Foundations for an undisclosed sum. The purchased firm is listed in the Ground Engineering Geotechnical Services File 2008 as having a turnover of £19M.

Bachy has bought the firm from Northwest Holst, gaining an increased rig fleet and its skilled, experienced engineers.

The company will continue to trade as Simplex and will stay in the local area, sharing Bachy's new northeast office with the anchors, grouting and mini-pile division in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Its plant will move to Bachy's Burscough depot in Lancashire.

Bachy Soletanche managing director Martin Pratt said: "The acquisition will take advantage of the synergy between the two companies.

"As such, it will expand the capacity of Simplex Foundations and for Bachy Soletanche will provide the extra plant equipment and engineers when required."
