BAA launches Stansted transport links consultation

BAA today launched a 14 week public consultation on the road and rail access for a two runway Stansted Airport planned for 2015
The consultation is on the surface access strategy which looks at upgrading and improving the transport services while trying to minimise passengers coming by car. It will look at introducing longer trains to meet increased passenger demand, returning the Stansted Express to being a dedicated service for airport travellers at busiest times of day, in conjunction with additional trains on the West Anglia Main Line serving Harlow and Bishop's Stortford passengers. In conjunction with the consultation the Highways Agency will consult on proposals for widening the M11 south of Stansted between the M25, junction 6, and the airport, junction 8, and on plans to improve airport access from the M11 and A120.
