The bridge and tunnel of the Oresund crossing between Denmark and Sweden won the International category in the British Construction Industry Awards.

'The tunnel embodies a number of major innovations in its construction process and the bridge is an object lesson in aesthetic and deciptively simple engineering design, ' said the citation. The project was featured in the June 2000 issue of NCEI. Major project award went to the Millennium Dome, the Civil Engineering award was won by Shell's Skiff gas platform and a special award went to London Underground's Jubilee Line Extension.
