Autodesk unveils its Geotechnical Module

The result of a collaboration between Autodesk and its industrial partner Keynetix has been launched and is expected help make Building Information Modelling (BIM) more easily realised for the ground engineering sector.

The Autodesk Geotechnical Module v1 for AutoCAD Civil 3D is available to users with an Infrastructure Design Suite Premium or Ultimate subscription. The joint work between Autodesk and Keynetix means that users of the latter’s HoleBASE SI program can connect data directly into AutoCAD to allow for dynamic integration between centralised data management and the 3D model.

The combined systems are said to seamlessly merge modifications in both the data and the model to maintain an up-to-date geotechnical module.

According to Keynetix, what is exciting is that this new extension for HoleBASE SI is allowing users to carry out operations in AutoCAD 10 times faster than they could previously in the company’s KeyHOLE program.

The company added that the large jump in productivity coupled with the BIM integration and the additional features that AutoCAD Civil 3D brings offers huge potential for users.
