Aurecon to design multi-million dollar road scheme in Australia

Three-year project for road construction to begin in next few weeks

Aurecon has won the contract to design the AUD$896M Torrens Road to River Torrens project in South Australia. In alliance with Leighton Contractors and local company York Civil, the project will expand Adelaide’s North-South Corridor.

Aurecon project director Harry Turner said: “We are excited to work on this project, a key long term vision for South Australia, critical for both freight and commuter traffic.”

The project includes a 3km section of lowered non-stop roadway and parallel surface roads along the length of the lowered motorway to connect local roads and arterial roads to South Road. There will also be an overpass of the Outer Harbor rail line, three major road bridges, a pedestrian bridge and a services bridge over the lowered road

Using Building Information Modelling (BIM), Aurecon will manage the design, provide detailed design and construction oversight. W&G and Mott MacDonald will also work on design.
