Atlas Copco adds drum cutters

Low noise and vibration from Atlas Copco’s new drum cutter range is said to make the new attachments ideal for use on restricted sites or in sensitive urban environments.

The eight new models in the DC range have services weights of 200kg to 2.9t for use on carriers with an operating weight of 1 to 50t and have been developed to complement Atlas Copco’s existing hydraulic breaker range.

“They offer an additional solution for softer rock applications up to 100Mpa,” says Atlas Copco product line manager, power demolition tools, Gordon Hambach. “They also offer a good choice for rock or concrete wall and surface profiling, trenching, frozen soil excavation, soft rock excavation in quarries, demolition, and dredging,” he adds.

The DC range can also be used in tunnelling applications and in water depths of up to 30m. Atlas Copco says that material cut using the drum cutters can be reused on site as backfill material without additional crushing due to the small grain sizes created by the cutting process.
