Atkins wins £3M Welsh Water framework

Welsh reservoir

Atkins has won a £3M framework contract with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water to provide technical services for the network.

The three-year contract which starts next month will look to identify areas of the system which need renovating. The consultancy will also construct hydraulic models to simulate how the water supply system will respond under various operational scenarios. It will identify improvement requirements and solutions, carry out feasibility studies, and appraise investment plans.

Atkins client director Gwion Kennard said: “We will identify solutions in AMP6 that will help to ensure that drinking water is safe and reliable, whilst also playing a role in safeguarding a sustainable environment for future generations”.

Atkins is currently working on three other frameworks for Welsh Water: a water resources framework, asset management framework, and a strategic drainage framework. The utility recently advertised for £330M of pressurised pipeline work in Wales.
