Atkins poach Sellafield don

Atkins has hired the man who led the £42bn Sellafield decommissioning and major projects programme for British Nuclear Group – Tony Price.

Price was major projects director at Sellafield where he was responsible for 400 construction, clean up and decommissioning schemes.

Atkins’ energy managing director Martin Grant said: “The UK is about to experience a step change in activity surrounding our major energy projects, particularly for wind and nuclear power.

“It is essential we have the right people in place to help us meet the challenges the industry is facing. Tony’s vast knowledge and outstanding credentials will help us to significantly enhance our capabilities.”

Since Sellafield, Price has been chief operating officer at the Aim-listed Redhall Group plc.

Price said: “Atkins is already synonymous with delivering technical excellence to the energy sector. My role is to add a new dimension, putting us at the forefront of delivering major projects in the nuclear, renewable and oil and gas markets.”
