WEMBLEY STADIUM'S uncertain future was last week put in the hands of the chairman of the UK's largest engineering consultancy.
WS Atkins chairman Michael Jeffries was appointed to chair the new FA subsidiary board, Wembley National Stadium Ltd.
The boardroom shake-up was recommended last year in the government commissioned Carter report.
'The board is now composed of construction, finance and marketing expertise to see the stadium - hopefully - through to completion, ' said Jeffries.
The project is, at present, attempting to finalise funding arrangements.
Newcastle United fan, Jeffries, said his personal expertise with international projects such as the world's largest hotel - the sail shaped Burj Al Arab in Dubai - would help him in the job.
WS Atkins also has previous experience as structural engineer for the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and the Daegu Stadium in Korea that will feature in the forthcoming World Cup (NCE 28 February).
